COCLA Montreal

COCLA Montreal is a Comunity Center created in 1984 to provide help and information to newcomers and refugies in their process to establish in the canadian and Québécoise society, and to ensure they get the basic needs as well as other citzens that make end meet. Today COCLA offers several programs and activities to the comunity among which are: the food bank, community kitchen, computer training programs, elderly activities and summer camps. The Mission of COCLA is to provide basic necessities and to build ties of friendship between new people from different countries in order to facilitate their integration into Canadian life and ensure their growth and development. The Mission of COCLA is also to promote respect for others without regard of origin, race, beliefs or political ideas.

SPCA Montreal

Fondée à Montréal en 1869, la Société Canadienne pour la Prévention de la Cruauté envers les Animaux (maintenant mieux connue sous l'appellation SPCA de Montréal) fut la première organisation de protection des animaux au Canada. À ses débuts, la principale préoccupation de la SPCA était d'améliorer la situation des chevaux de trait. Aujourd'hui, elle est la plus grande société pour la protection des animaux au Québec. La SPCA de Montréal est un organisme à but non lucratif qui dépend presque exclusivement des dons du public pour effectuer son travail. The Bitcoin Embassy

THE BITCOIN EMBASSY WAS CLOSED SPRING 2017. THIS PAGE IS KEPT FOR HISTORICAL ARCHIVE PURPOSES. Founded in July 2013, the Bitcoin Embassy is the first physical space in the world dedicated to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency technology. We are both an entrepreneurial cryptocurrency hub and an influential non-profit organization. Our vision is to bring together participants of the cryptocurrency community with different backgrounds and expertise to foster the creation of professional, mutually-beneficial relationships. We are strongly committed to our non-profit mission of informing, educating and assisting the public's use of Bitcoin and related crypto-technologies while advancing the global development and adoption of this disruptive technology. An important physical landmark of the global Bitcoin community, the Embassy is an impressive three-story building located in the heart of Montreal, one of North America's most vibrant cultural, financial and technological metropolises. Overlooking Montreal's famous Saint-Laurent Boulevard, simply referred to as "the Main" by locals, the Embassy boasts 14 000 ft2 of space in close proximity to the traditional financial district as well as other technology and venture capital hubs such as the Notman House. The Embassy's non-profit mission is implemented through various projects and activities broadly grouped in the following categories:  Producing and financing educational and promotional material such as tutorials, analytical reports and presentations.  Organizing and hosting lectures, conferences, panels and introductory classes on beginner and advanced cryptocurrency topics.  Educating the general public by assisting newcomers with advice and best practices and providing free technical support.  Sharing resources and expertise with national and international Bitcoin associations

Conseil des Montréalaises

Créé en 2004, le Conseil des Montréalaises (CM) est composé de 15 membres bénévoles représentant les Montréalaises dans toute leur diversité. Il agit en tant qu'organisme consultatif auprès de l'administration municipale en ce qui a trait à la condition féminine et à l'égalité entre les femmes et les hommes et entre toutes les femmes. Il utilise l'analyse féministe intersectionnelle des enjeux dans ses recherches pour appréhender les réalités vécues par les Montréalaises et formuler des recommandations à la Ville de Montréal. Le CM constitue un précieux outil démocratique. Il s'intéresse à de nombreux dossiers en lien avec les compétences municipales, dont l'accès au logement pour les femmes, la sécurité, le transport, l'aménagement urbain, l'itinérance au féminin, les loisirs, ainsi que la participation des femmes en politique municipale et les conditions de travail des femmes fonctionnaires.

Eau Secours

Eau Secours est un organisme environnemental à but non lucratif fondé en 1997 dont la mission est de promouvoir la protection et la gestion responsable de l'eau dans une perspective de santé environnementale, d'équité, d'accessibilité et de défense collective des droits de la population. L'organisme travaille sur plusieurs dossiers, notamment les communautés bleues, les hydrocarbures, l'eau embouteillée, la privatisation de l'eau, la fluoration de l'eau potable, les déversements d'eaux usées, la contamination des cours d'eau et la protection des milieux humides.
