Being 3 Gallery

Being 3 Gallery, one of the most important contemporary art galleries in China, is being operated by Beijing Baicai Culture and Media Company Ltd as a major brand to promote selected artists and their works worldwide. Being 3 Gallery is working with a group of most important and most potential artists from China and worldwide, Ai Weiwei, Li Wei (performance and photograph), Li Zhanyang (Sculpture), Lan Zhenghui(ink works), Lv Peng, Burkhard von Harder(film artist from Germany) and Xu Jianguo (New York) are all in the name list. With its Italian Partners, Being 3 Gallery also created and is managing Biennale Italy China, one of the most important culture exchange project between China and Europe. Being 3 Gallery is also working on opening an art space in New York City in the spring of 2016 and utilize its resource and capacity in promoting artists worldwide. FQ Projects specializes in promoting and developing young contemporary artists. Located in Huai Hai Fang, one of the most famous cultural lanes in Shanghai. Once favoured by the Shanghai bourgeois class, many well-known cultural figures lived here during the 1920â€™s and 30â€™s, including Ba Jin, Xu Guangping, Xu Beihong and Hu Die. This has created a rich cultural atmosphere in the lane. This area has always been one of the representative places for Shanghai culture. Although after the cultural revolution the prestigious area codes were diluted within Shanghai, one can still feel the coziness and humanity which reflect the original Shanghai â€˜sentimentsâ€™ in Huai Hai Fang. This contrasts with the modern match boxes and concrete jungle that sit just outside, on Huai Hai Lu. FQ stands in stark contrast to the drift for Chinese contemporary art to be displayed in warehouse style galleries, following the American and North European trend, often set in a few hundred square meters or even thousands. The works follow â€œthe bigger the betterâ€ mentality, and exaggeration and overstatement has become the mainstream. FQ Projects features artwork that is high in quality, with an emphasis on significance and humanity. Framing them within a real living space and neighborhood scenario, FQ aims to promote and support those thoughtful artworks and artists who differ from the mainstream. This is not only to fill the niche of the restless Chinese contemporary art and fast-food life style, but also to carry on the tradition of â€˜small but delicateâ€™ Shanghai culture.
