TPMPD Mission Statement: To provide a welcoming public aquatics facility managed in a fiscally-responsible manner with a focus on educating all ages in the lifelong skills of water safety. We carry out this mission with a Board and staff who are compassionate, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of our diverse community, working to foster positive and lifelong experiences with aquatic environments. TPMPD Vision Statement: Contributing to the quality of life for our community, and for future generations, through welcoming, fun, safe and positive aquatic experiences at the Tukwila Pool MPD. The Tukwila Pool Metropolitan Park District is a "Special Purpose District", which means it is funded by Tukwila residents and businesses through property taxes for the sole purpose of providing a community pool. The voter-approved special tax (known as a levy) is .15¢ for every $1000 a property is valued by King County. For example, a Tukwila property valued at $100,000 would pay a levy of $15 per year to support the Tukwila Pool. The Tukwila Pool Metropolitan Park District is governed by an elected 5-member Board of Commissioners. The TPMPD Commissioners work hard to ensure that public funds are spent in a responsible manner for the safe and legal operation of the Tukwila Pool. The Tukwila Pool provides a welcoming public aquatics facility with a focus on educating all ages in the lifelong skills of water safety. Customers of the Tukwila Pool have access to a 25-yard, six-lane lap pool and a shallow pool that supports various aquatic programming while promoting a welcoming, fun, and safe aquatic experience at Tukwila Pool.

Whitemud Equine Learning Centre

For more than a decade, the Whitemud Equine Learning Centre Association (WELCA) has been quietly helping to develop people of strength and contributors to the Edmonton community. Through our equine-related activities, we will increase our role in creating a better quality of life for all Edmontonians. WELCA provides easy access for anyone wishing to discover the joys of equine activities, and those who wish to rekindle their love for horses. Our centrally located services help young urban people develop self-confidence and self-esteem, and our horses are instrumental in providing therapeutic services for people living with mental health issues or diseases such as multiple sclerosis. We provide learning opportunities for students of all ages, whether it is veterinarian studies or learning an equine sport. And we help urbanites gain a better understanding of life on a horse farm, right in the heart of the city. We make all this possible using our own herd of horses and some which are loaned to us. WELCA's learning centre provides programs to approximately 1,000 visitors each week. Our different horse riding programs and instructions are available at various levels to the general public, school groups, and people with disabilities.
