The objective of the initiative is to leverage the collective strengths of industry academia hospitals governmental bodies and key stakeholders to share knowledge and momentum generated by research and working groups to increase patient safety and bring international attention to the need for an increased focus on hospital environmental hygiene. Although hospital environment hygiene has a direct impact on the lives of workers in hospitals as well as a broader impact on communities and the environment, this improvement in hospital environment will benefit public health by reducing the rates of healthcare-associated infections and protecting the hospital staff as well as the wider environment
