Neighborhood Place of Puna
Neighborhood Place of Puna (NPP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting families on Hawaiʻi Island in accessing the necessary tools and resources they need to raise their keiki (children) within a safe, stable, and nurturing home environment.
Our goal is to provide a non-stigmatizing approach to offer families with underage children various resources and support to address concrete needs, housing instability, skill building, developmentally appropriate parenting, and social isolation. We also aim to provide opportunities for healing, growth, learning, and personal development.
We accomplish this through the various programs we offer:
🌱 The Coordination Center
🌱 The Family Resource Center
🌱 Hale ʻIki Family Assessment Center - Emergency Shelter
🌱 Hawaiʻi County Homeless Engagement Hui
The Coordination Center offers a first point of contact for Hawaiʻi County residents seeking assistance in accessing necessary support services. It helps residents in locating, navigating, and linking up with housing, financial, and health-related resources available within our community.
The Family Resource Center is a hub of resources, referrals, and information. Membership is free and benefits include access to emergency supplies like diapers, hygiene supplies, parenting supports, guidance for families experiencing homelessness, and more.
At our Family Assessment Center, Hale ʻIki, we offer emergency shelter and housing navigation services.
The Hawaiʻi County Homeless Engagement (HCHE) Hui is a collaboration of volunteers and agencies committed to serving those in our community experiencing unsheltered homelessness. In partnership with the County of Hawai’i, the HCHE Hui is a pilot program inclusive of street outreach around Hawai’i island to reach homeless individuals who may need access to community resources.
Our ultimate objective is to help families not only meet their basic needs but also to discover opportunities to grow, thrive, and succeed.
