Headquartered in Sydney, our brand has more than 50 locations (including MYER concessions) distributed nationally throughout the major capital cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra, as well as in Auckland, New Zealand. In addition, M.J. Bale has a robust online e-commerce store, distributing nationally and internationally. Manufacturing "garments of integrity for men of character," the M.J. Bale collection includes classically-inclined suits, coats, shirts, trousers and accessories that are designed with a focus on soft, deconstructed tailoring and elegant layered separates (the Australian version of Neapolitan tailoring - built for both warmer climes and ‘mix and match' pairing of elegant formal and informal garments). To ensure we get the very highest quality raw materials, fabrics and garment construction, M.J. Bale utilises a series of global artisans that epitomise the best of their industries. In Australia we work with superfine Merino woolgrowers – producers of the world's most luxurious and breathable fibre – at farm level to access the finest wool for our suiting and coats. In Italy we weave this wool with a century's old, Biella-based Gold Woolmark weaver, a long-term partner of ours. In Florence two brothers knit our woollen sweaters in a workshop surrounded by lush garden and peacocks, and in Naples we have shirts handmade by Neapolitan tailors with decades of experience. To ensure our Collection suits – M.J. Bale's highest tier suiting offer – are hand-made with precision and dexterity, we work with our long-time Japanese tailor and his workshop in the Iwate Prefecture, Japan. With our roots deep in Australian corporate and sporting culture, we are proud to be the official clothier partner of the Australian Soccer team, Australian cricket team, Australian polo team and local Super rugby sides.

Our relationship with Ace Hardware provides national chain buying power, access to hundreds of thousands of products, and premium merchandise brands like Craftsman, Scotts, Valspar, Toro, Weber, Stihl, Yeti and others. At the same time, we provide our customers with a localized product mix and services while operating a friendly, helpful neighborhood hardware store. History Our history in hardware is a classic American tale of hard work and reinvention. We were originally founded in 1946 as The Hardware Depot by the Traskos brothers of Dearborn, MI. The company had grown to 4 locations by 1959 when we joined the Ace Hardware cooperative and changed our name to ACE Budget Center. In 1981, we had grown to 36 stores and left the Ace organization to operate independently under the name of ACO Hardware. In 2014, the Board of Directors concluded that it was time for yet another reinvention of the company to ensure long term success and sustained relevance to our customers. We rejoined the Ace Hardware co-op under the banner of Great Lakes Ace Hardware.
