Founded in 2013, Independent Design Architects (IDEA) is a collaborative practice focusing on the conception, implementation and execution of thoughtful, creative design. We are excited by the opportunity to positively affect the built environment regardless of a project's complexity, budget or scope. With over 60 years of combined experience working in major metropolitan centers throughout the US, Europe and China, IDEA's leadership brings an international perspective which enriches the creative potential we see in each new project. With studios in the heart of Chicago's West Loop and Shanghai's South Bund, we are positioned to effectively collaborate with clients and project teams worldwide. IDEA has expertise across a broad range of building typologies including commercial, residential, educational and cultural projects, ranging in size from 500 sf to over 5,000,000 sf. Most importantly, beyond figure or form, we are dedicated to developing meaningful, lasting solutions for our clients and for those whose lives are impacted by the spaces we create.

Hudson Studio Architects

Hudson Studio Architects work is characterized by innovative solutions to complex programs, and the resolute dedication of partners and staff to attain our client's objectives. Partners Linda Yowell and James Wagman have built a substantial body of work including academic and non-profit institutions, corporations and individuals. Projects have ranged from interiors to master plans, from college administrative buildings and schools to building lobbies and offices. We are dedicated to meeting our clients'​ needs with contextually appropriate, environmentally conscious design, to achieve memorable places.

Atlas Architects, Inc

The Atlas Architects team consists of three licensed architects and an intern architect. We believe that our client's interests are best served by having a principal stakeholder in our practice performing all phases of their project. From programming through schematic design, construction documents and construction, our clients and contractors are always dealing with an experienced professional who has a vested interest in the success of the project. By focusing on a select number of projects, we are able to develop big ideas and offer excellent professional service while maintaining the agility of a small firm. We do our work in a collaborative studio environment where every project is approached as a new opportunity to experience the built environment. Design solutions are explored through a dynamic and interactive process until our client's goals are achieved. Atlas is constantly seeking creative solutions to help their clients create unique environments. Our team employs a strong background in the language and methods of building construction to transform ideas into built reality. Atlas Architects is located in the developing Central 9th District along 900 South.

Biber Architects

Every building is a biography. Whose biography depends on the architect's approach. We look to the users, the owners, the brief and the context for inspiration, shaping buildings and projects with them in mind. We see our role as interpreters, not the subjects of our projects. We may write and direct these movies, but we try not to star in them as well. Biber Architects is a tightly organized, highly experienced team of architects and designers working for more than 25 years in New York and nationally. James Biber FAIA LEED leads the firm and conceptually drives all our projects from the first introduction to the opening party, often designing the client's next project and the next one, etc.. James is responsible for such icons as the Harley-Davidson Museum, the Fashion Center Needle and Button, Gotham Bar & Grill and Mesa Grill, the Glass House Visitors Center and a long list of visual gems. Instead of staffing our projects to match a company's large middle management one-to-one, we operate at the highest levels of decision making. That is where choices are explored and designs are created. It is the creative-decision level.
