Faculty of Forestry is uniquely positioned at the Technical University in Zvolen (TUZVO) as the only university specialised in forestry and wood sciences and technology in Slovakia. The faculty provides university study programmes concerned with both forestry and wildlife management interlinked with own fundamental and applied scientific research and its graduates obtain BSc. and/or MSc. degrees. The faculty research is in line with the world forestry trends and the graduate profiles requirements with their focus being on the adaptive forest ecosystem management. As part of a research university, it also organizes postgraduate studies and may confer the academic and scientific degree of “Philosophiae doctor“ (Ph.D.) on its graduates. The Faculty is authorized to award the scientific and pedagogical title of Associate Professor and/or Professor in several accredited study fields. The Faculty of Forestry has obtained grants from various grant schemes in recent years (e.g. EU framework programmes, Horizont 2020, EU structural funds). It established five so called Centres of Excellence from such funds during 2009-2014. In 2014 - 2015, the Faculty of Forestry was evaluated by the independent Academic Ranking and Rating Agency (ARRA) and ranked first among the AGRO (agricultural sciences) group in the Slovak republic.
