Corinthia Group

THE CORINTHIA GROUP OF COMPANIES (Corinthia Palace Hotel Company Limited) Ever since its incorporation by Alfred Pisani and his family in 1966, Corinthia Group has been driven by growth. In 1974 LAFICO, (Sovereign Wealth Fund) acquired its 50% stake-holding in partnership with the Pisanis. Over the years the Corinthia Group invested in more hotels and other assets in Malta, and during the 1980s began its acquisitions abroad. In 2000, Corinthia Group incorporated and listed International Hotel Investments plc (IHI) on the Malta Stock Exchange. The Corinthia Group holds a controlling stake in IHI alongside minority shareholders, LAFICO and Istithmar World of Dubai (Sovereign Wealth Fund). IHI currently owns several hotels in Europe and the MENA region, its own hotel management company Corinthia Hotels International (CHI), the Corinthia Hotels brand and the Island Hotels Group in Malta. In 2006 Corinthia Group joined forces with the National Real Estate Co of Kuwait to incorporate Mediterranean Investments Holding plc (MIH) in which Corinthia Group owns a 50% stake. MIH successfully developed the Palm City Residences and is also a co-investor with IHI in the Group's high-rise development Medina Tower in Tripoli, Libya. The Corinthia Group continues to own and manage assets (including hotels) and ancillary operations in Malta, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Russia, Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic, Portugal, Turkey, Tunisia, Libya and Dubai.
