Belsat provides viewers with reliable news about events in Belarus, the region and the world contributing to counterbalancing Kremlin's disinformation in the post-Soviet region. Belsat operates through its own network of over 100 journalists in Belarus as well as in Russia and other countries of the region. Belsat promotes fundamental democratic values (free media, human rights, social activism) by making its own programmes (including its most popular news and analytical shows) and broadcasting third-party content (culture, education, entertainment, sport, etc.). With its innovative approach, Belsat reinforces national identity by promoting the Belarusian language and culture in the context of European cultural diversity. Belsat is a media channel broadcasting on the Astra satellite, via Polish, Ukrainian and Lithuanian cable networks, online at www.belsat.eu, and its own YouTube and other social media channels. Belsat TV is a Belarusian- and Russian-language channel operating as part of TVP S.A. Belsat TV currently employs over 200 staff, mainly from Belarus, but also from Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania and Poland. In 2018, the channel also registered in Ukraine. Belsat TV is co-founded by the Polish Television and the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The channel is also developing thanks to support from international institutions, especially the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Nordic Council of Ministers, foreign ministries of Norway, the Netherlands, Canada and Lithuania, the British and Irish governments, and the US State Department. Since its establishment Belsat TV maintains freedom and autonomy of broadcasting.
