Caring Health Center, Inc.

Caring Health Center (CHC) is one of the premier health centers in Western Massachusetts, and for nearly 30 years it has served as an essential source of health care for residents of the greater Springfield area. CHC is the most culturally diverse and linguistically leading institution in the region. It is the leader in modeling employment equity based on being both women-led and having majority representation of people of color in our executive and overall leadership team. El Instituto Nacional de Geriatría -INGER- es el único centro de salud público del país destinado a la atención especializada en Geriatría. El Instituto Nacional de Geriatría se caracteriza por: - Ser el único hospital público, a nivel nacional, destinado a la atención exclusiva de la tercera edad. - Aplicar un modelo de atención integral a través de un equipo multidisciplinario. - Contar con un Policlínico de Especialidades en Geriatría y Psicogeriatría, con atención ambulatoria para los adultos mayores. - Colaborar en la formulación de políticas nacionales para dicho grupo etáreo. - Impartir capacitación permanente a profesionales de todo el país, en Evaluación Funcional del Adulto Mayor. El promedio de edad de los usuarios fluctúa entre los 70 a 75 años, pero la atención es desde los 60 años en adelante. La Geriatría como especialidad médica orienta su accionar hacia el paciente geriátrico, el cual se define fundamentalmente como el adulto mayor, que independiente de su edad presente un trastorno funcional agudo, ya sea físico o psíquico, que presente pluripatología relevante, polifarmacia, habitualmente con una patología mental acompañante y a veces predominante. La oferta, se define en niveles de complejidad, ofreciendo un "modelo de atención geriátrica integral al adulto mayor", enfocada fundamentalmente a recuperar la funcionalidad de los pacientes con síndrome geriátrico agudo, apoyando, orientando, capacitando y ayudando a la familia o cuidadores principales en la continuidad de los cuidados que cada paciente hospitalizado como ambulatorio requiere.
