University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest is the oldest and most prestigious engineering school in Romania. Its traditions are related to the establishment in 1818 by Gheorghe Lazar, of the first technical school with teaching in Romanian. UPB assumes the mission to train specialists in different technical fields, able to use valuable scientific, technical and cultural-humanistic knowledge, to contribute to the technological, economic and socio-cultural progress of the Romanian society and of the contemporary world. UPB ensures the achievement of a performance education, developed and perfected through a complex research activity, continuing the tradition of the Polytechnic School of Bucharest, in accordance with the exigencies and the means offered by the modern informational society. UPB's mission has been thought over as a blend of education, research and innovation, which represents a key towards a knowledge-based society and economy. Creating knowledge mainly by scientific research, giving it out by education and professional training, disseminating it by information technologies, as well as the use of technological innovation are elements that define the university distinctive profile. The engineering profession has continuously transformed and adapted itself to the new demands of the society, but being an engineer, a person who knows and is able to make life more comfortable, has remained unchanged.

Politehnica University Timișoara is one of the biggest and most well-known technical universities from Central and Eastern Europe. Founded in 1920, shortly after the unification of the Romanian territories, in a European context marked by the redefinition of the states after the First World War, the Polytechnic School of Timișoara - as it was called at the beginning - was the answer for one of the requirements of Romanian society of the time, namely the training of engineers. Politehnica University Timişoara, a university of advanced research and education, is today one of the Romanian schools with tradition, recognized nationally and internationally, both by the activity of generations of teachers and by the exceptional activity of prestigious academics. In the spirit of tradition, the mission of the Politehnica University Timişoara consists in satisfying the competence requirements of the economic environment, by ensuring the superior professional training of university and postgraduate level. Carrying fundamental values, the mission reflects, at the same time, the preoccupation for the future of the society, by tracing the directions of its development locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Politehnica University Timişoara includes faculties, departments, institutes and research centers, laboratories, library, dormitories, canteens, sports facilities, as well as technical and administrative services, publishing house and printing house, student polyclinic. The 10 faculties of the university provides study programs for approximately 13,500 students. Within the 25 departments, almost 700 teachers are working, and the administrative and auxiliary staff consists of about 500 people.

Established by Royal Decree on April 6, 1913, at the initiative of Nicolae D. Xenopol, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, and of a group of young economists who had attended leading universities from Germany, France and England, the Academy of High Commercial and Industrial Studies was the first economic higher education institution established in Romania. The Bucharest University of Economic Studies is and wishes to remain the most prestigious institution of higher economic and public administration education in Romania and to rank amongst the top universities in Europe, as regards the content and modernity of the teaching and learning process, the dynamism of innovation, the implication in strategic partnerships with representatives of the national and international economic and social environment.
