As a community advocate for at-risk youth and families, my current position on the Minister’s Youth Leadership Council enables me to help many youths find their voice. Leading with the next generation of changemakers has allowed me to find two service projects, each giving me the chance to use my voice to benefit others for the past two years. These projects include, organizing the Child Slaves Fundraiser for Lake Volta and establishing it into a non-profit organization to end child labour — all because my mom encouraged me to believe in myself and showed me what it meant to serve others. I genuinely love what I do, and I have been able to lead initiatives that further develop my feeling of fulfilment. Asides from my values, I am truly passionate in Immigration Law. My strong interest in the Law profession allowed me to see a lot of injustice in the world. I’d like to play my part in making things better. I consider specializing in Immigration law because this field is special to me, and I consider it incredibly important. Since a career such as this requires great responsibility, I took every leadership opportunity that came my way. I was one of the first ever Youth Ambassadors for Carrousel of the Nations in Ontario, with that role, I promoted cultural and ethnic organizations in my community, and helped celebrate the diversity of our region. My specialties include, quickly learning new skills, problem solving, public speaking and being an avid volunteer in the community, it’s natural to me. My mother always said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”. I believe my work is going to fill a large part of my life, and the only way to be truly satisfied, is to do what I believe is great work and love what I do. I will be taking an undergraduate program at the University of Manitoba to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree, where I can learn about the systematic study of governance and law.
